Adam Kahana is a singer, guitarist, pianist, and composer based in New York City. Born in Seattle, Washington, by way of Chicago and Madison, Wisconsin, he graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with degrees in jazz guitar, computer science, and data science. At the University of Michigan, he studied guitar with Miles Okazaki. Adam is about to complete his M.S. in Computer Science with a Graduate Certificate in Artificial Intelligence from Johns Hopkins University.

Adam is an alumnus of the Geri Allen Fellowship in the Carr Center Gathering Orchestra, under the direction of Prof. Rodney Whitaker. He performed guitar in the ensemble.

In addition to playing guitar and piano, Adam has had experience singing in multiple ensembles. Adam has sung Tenor II with the Washington Chorus under the direction of Dr. Eugene Rogers, whom Adam performed under in the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club. As part of the Washington Chorus, Adam participated in the recording of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the National Symphony Orchestra. In addition to performing in the area, Adam enjoys teaching music to students of all ages. He has experience teaching guitar, piano, and jazz performance, history, and improvisation.
